Two words: Blue eyes.
If you’re like me you have to wear sunglasses when it’s cloudy or you have a permanent wrinkle between your eyes from squinting all the time. I’m always that girl at outdoor photoshoots wearing sunglasses in most of the shots…Somehow I just can’t look into the blazing sun and not have my retinas fry into oblivion.
The problem is that most standard sunglasses don’t even cut glare at all. Even if they are $300 raybans, if they aren’t labeled “Polarized,” I won’t buy them. Polarized sunglasses are specially designed to reduce glare from surfaces such as water. And since I go blind if there is even a white building reflecting light off of it, polarized sunglasses have become a must have in my purse.
The reason behind eye sensitivity is with the amount of melanin in your eye. Darker eye colors like Brown have the most melanin pigment in their eyes, providing an almost natural sunglass protection. If you’re like me, and have light blue eyes, the computer screen hurts them, and that’s because the melanin level in our eye is low. Science!
