DIY Rose Water

Rose water face spray is such a trend today, and rightfully so! I have always sworn by incorporating rose into every possible product for skin that I could get, including face wash, eye cream, face mists, masks and more. ( See complete ingredient list and recipe below).

Why do you need rose water in your life?

Its packed full of vitamins including: Vitamin C promotes collagen production, Vitamin B3, which calms down irritation and soothes redness, Vitamin E protects your face from air pollution, and also encourages blood circulation in your skin.

Need more convincing??

Rose helps maintain your skin’s pH balance, controls excess oil production, helps cure eczema, reduces and prevents eye puffiness, and has anti aging properties, and reduces dark spots. See more reasons Here.

But why make your own when you could just buy any one of these?

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater -$7.00
Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin -$9.00
Herbivore Botanicals All Natural Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist -$37.00

There s quite a range for pricing as you can see, and they are packed full of questionable alcohols, preservatives, and chemicals that I didn’t really like putting on my face. So I decided to embark on the journey of creating my own 100% natural face mist, full of essential oils and fresh ingredients that I felt better about drenching my face in several times a day. Also, the price tag on these can add up. I broke even with 1 batch for myself and some friends versus paying for these chemical filled bottles every few months!

Basically rose water is the business, and I swear by its application. Not only did I use rose water, but I added some geranium, ylang ylang, peppermint, hibiscus, aloe, argan oil, and witch hazel to give my skin the refresh it needs multiple times a day

You will need:
Organic Dried Rose Petals
Glass Spray Bottle
Vitamin E Oil -1 tsp
Organic Argan Oil -1 tsp
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil -2 drops
Geranium Essential Oil -4 drops
Peppermint Essential Oil -4 drops
Hibiscus Oil -2 drops
Unscented Witch Hazel

How to make the actual rose water first:

  1.  Filtered Water
  2.  Dried red rose petals
  3.  A funnel
  4.  A glass bowl
  5.  Strainer
  6.  A spray bottle/jar
  1. In a small clean pot, bring the filtered water to a boil. Use enough water for at least 1 bottle, but I made extra and stored it so I can have it ready when i made some for friends.
  2. Next, add in a handful of dried red rose petals (you can use fresh but make sure they are fragrant and not sprayed with chemicals)
  3. Cover the pot and gently simmer the rose petals until they lose their color
  4. Turn off the heat and let the rose water cool completely
  5. Once cool, strain the rose water into a clean bowl.
  6. Store in a sealed container or spray bottle in the fridge.

See the full article I used for the recipe Here

Then, like the video explains, simply add the extra ingredients into the spray bottle and shake!!

Prepare your face and soul for the flowery aroma, invigorating peppermint, calming rose and geranium, softening argan oil magic that will overcome your face with each application of this miracle elixir.

Happy Skin= Happy life!
